City of Joburg ‘releases’ JMPD chief David Tembe from his position

The metropolis of Johannesburg has, via a mutually agreed separation settlement, launched David Tembe from his position because the chief of police inside the Johannesburg Metropolitan Department (JMPD).

According to a press release issued by the town, Tembe vacated his position on Tuesday already.

“Both events have agreed to maintain confidential the phrases of separation.”

Sipho Dlephu, a veteran municipal police official with 36 years’ expertise, was appointed by the town as performing chief of police.

“The metropolis thanks the previous chief of police, Mr Tembe, for his service to the residents of Johannesburg and needs him effectively.”
