The Springboks squad has undergone a significant revamp following the team’s poor performance in their final Rugby Championship game against Argentina at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The squad wrapped up their 2023 Rugby Championship campaign in disappointing fashion as they clung on for a sloppy 22-21 win over Michael Cheek’s Argentina in Johannesburg.

There will of course be a rematch between the sides next weekend, when they clash in a Rugby World Cup warm-up, which will be the first of the Springboks’ three pre-RWC friendlies.

In selecting his squad for the trip to Argentina, coach Jacques Nienaber opted to go primarily with World Cup hopefuls while resting the vast majority of the Springboks’ first-choice players.

Included in the omitted gang is Siya Kolisi, Handre Pollard and Grant Williams, who are all nursing injuries at the moment.
